BOVEN DIGOEL, LELEMUKU.COM - The Indonesian police in the Boven Digoel area, Papua province, denied the information about the shooting of civilians in the remote area.

The police on Wednesday (23/06/2021) said that information from Facebook about the shooting of Silfester Agustno Mindop was false information.

Police say Silfester was never shot but he was injured in a fall after fleeing a police chase.

The victim fled because he was caught drinking alcohol

The victim is currently being treated at a local hospital.

Meanwhile local residents who did not know the full information made a protest movement to the police.

The police then calmed the protesting crowd and explained the real cause.

The police asked the surrounding community not to easily believe the information spread by irresponsible people on social media.

They stated that false information shared by irresponsible people could cause chaos and things that could disrupt public order. (Noci)
